Prof(a). Melissa Gurgel Adeodato Vieira

Graduated in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Ceará (2001), being awarded the Academic Merit Award Magna cum Laude. She completed an academic exchange at the École Centrale Paris (ECP)/France. She holds a Master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (2003) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the State University of Campinas (2006), having completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Universität Stuttgart/Germany (2007) and two postdoctoral fellowships at the State University of Campinas (2008 and 2009). She is currently an Associate Professor (MS 5.2) and a Full Professor. She was Head of the Department of Process and Product Development at the School of Chemical Engineering of the State University of Campinas from 2016 to 2018 and from 2022 to 2024, and Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program at FEQ/UNICAMP from 2018 to 2020. She is currently the Coordinator of the Postgraduate Program at FEQ/UNICAMP. She has experience in Process Engineering and Environmental/Sanitation Engineering, with an emphasis on Industrial Operations and Equipment for Chemical Engineering, working mainly in the following areas: unit operations, industrial effluent treatment, waste reuse and treatment, particulate systems, involving adsorption, drying, particle coating, and the development of modified-release multiparticulate pharmaceutical forms. She is a CNPq PQ 1 research productivity fellow and has received numerous awards for her work in scientific and technological research. Since 2023, she has been listed among the most influential scientific researchers in the world, according to a ranking compiled by the scientific publisher Elsevier and led by a team of experts from Stanford University. She has coordinated and continues to coordinate projects for various funding agencies and bodies, with many national and international partnerships. She is an ad hoc reviewer for national and international funding agencies, as well as for more than 70 international journals.
